Road changes to be implemented 15/07/2020

Please download detailed diagrams below, regarding the imminent changes to the traffic regime throughout Monmouth but notably in Monnow Street.

The Authority has arranged for a temporary traffic regulation order to be introduced to:

I.        Continue to support the Prohibition of Driving on B4293 Monnow   Street from its junction with Monnow Keep to its junction with St Johns Street (except for loading and unloading and disabled access); and

II.        St John Street from its junction with Glendower Street to its junction with B4293 Monnow Street (except for access)

Both of which are considered to be phase 1 of the works.

I.   Temporary One-Way system on B4293 Monnow Street (permitted direction of travel north-east to south-west)

B4293 Priory Street from a point approximately 67m south-west of its junction with the A466 Monk Street to its junction with Monnow Keep in a south-westerly direction

2.  Temporary signed only 20mph Zone covering all residential roads in Monmouth as shown in drawing No. Monmouth – 03

A signed diversionary route will be in place for the One-Way system on the B4293 Monnow Street as follows:

B4293 Monnow Street, Blestium Street, Cinderhill Street, A40 (T), A466 Dixton Road and B4293 Priory Street

These measures will come into effect on Wednesday 15th July and will remain in operation for a maximum period of 18 months. However, I would ask for your patience in terms of signage being erected to support these restrictions, as officers continue to do their utmost to support every town and village within the County and work with the limited resource that’s currently available.

It is considered that these measures will continue to assist with social distance, allow businesses to reopen safely and create a safer highway network for all road users.
